With FTS PRO sysops can define an unlimited number of File Areas for their users... CD-ROM File Directories can be ONLINE side by side with File Directories on the hard drive. Users can easily scan these File Areas (comments and extended descriptions included), tagging any number of files at a time for download. Unlike many existing file systems, FTS PRO gives the user the capability to scroll both up and down in a File Directory, during which all commands are available with a single keystroke! FTS PRO also includes PRO Upload, allowing seamless integration of batch uploading into your file system! Using PRO Upload, users can upload an unlimited number of files, and may use up to 20 lines (sysop configurable) to describe each. Furthermore, FTS PRO is the ONLY file system to fully support RIP graphics! RIP, or Remote Imaging Protocol, allows for a graphical, mouse-driven interface for the remote terminal and promises to be the graphical standard of the future. Please take the time to try it and let us know your results! The File Management System: No other TBBS file system to date incorporates substantial online file management. The File Management System (FMS) is a sophisticated management program supplementing the powerful design of FTS PRO. FMS makes editing/adding descriptions and comments as well as moving/copying/deleting/adding files a snap; the descriptions can even be imported from any text file within an archive! Equally as important, the FMS interface has been designed to allow for the smallest learning curve possible, making FMS one of the most intuitive management systems ever written. In addition to its sophisticated file handling functions, FMS has the ability to alert the sysop of files listed in the File Directory which do not exist on the disk. Conversely, FMS can determine files that exist on the disk but not in the File Directory. This makes adding new files as simple as copying them to the DOS sub-directory you want and running FMS! Finally, FMS includes the basis for an open architecture user management system. This allows any TDBS or DOS based program to indirectly modify any user's userlog account. FMS takes advantage of this design by providing the sysop with the option of removing bytes from a user's account when deleting a file he/she uploaded! For your convenience we have written both a TDBS ONLINE (.TPG) version and DOS executable (.EXE) version of FMS. Sysop Control Panel: The Sysop Control Panel (SYSCTRL) provides even greater ONLINE functionality to the FTS PRO system. TICK processing allows systems connected to File Distribution Networks such as SDN to import their file packets WITHOUT shutting down to run TICK. Additionally, if server control software is being used the archive will be scanned for a FILE_ID.DIZ extended description file and, if present, will use it instead of the one line TICK description. Furthermore, a RENAME option is provided to allow automatically renaming files during the import process (eg: .SDN to .ARJ). SYSCTRL also provides ONLINE ASCII file list creation, including the File Directories, .FAR files, and .ALL master list files! Finally, ONLINE Disk Names configuration allows changing the location or ONLINE status of any disk configured, which makes CD-ROM rotations a snap! PROSETUP: PROSETUP is the key to FTS PRO's configuration and installation. Never again will you be forced to edit a confusing text configuration file, create directories, or perform specific upgrade steps... PROSETUP handles it all! PROSETUP is a professional menu and mouse driven DOS application with full online help and a highly intuitive interface. It rids you of the complicated command line switches which push your Opt Data strings to the limit (64 characters). We are more than willing to help you! ╔═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗ ║ CopyIt/2: Server Control Software Product Overview ║ ╚═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝ BBS software developers and operators realized the need for server control software several years ago as an important step in expanding the capabilities of BBS systems. For integrated multitasking BBS systems such as TBBS and The Major BBS, server control software has almost become a requirement for creating a versatile system. Because integrated multitasking programs become the operating system rather than run on top of it, individual nodes cannot execute DOS programs or commands. This severly limits the operations that can be performed by the BBS: simple things like running PKUNZIP are impossible! Server control software overcomes this major limitation. CopyIt/2 is the premier server control software for PC-DOS and OS/2. In its most basic context, CopyIt/2 waits for request files from any CopyIt/2 enabled application. CopyIt/2 then dynamically schedules current tasks and sends a response to each application. There is no limit to the number of tasks or requests CopyIt/2 can handle at one time. CopyIt/2 was originally written to expand the functionality of FTS PRO (our replacement for the standard TBBS file system); however, it was designed with many potential applications in mind. With FTS PRO, CopyIt/2 enables zero-impact CD-ROM support, archive extraction, GIF previewing, real-time faxing, and other features which can only be accomplished with server control software: CD-ROM: CopyIt/2's most useful feature may be its zero-impact CD-ROM support. When a users marks files for download on a CD-ROM, those files should be copied to a hard drive for download. If the BBS machine is forced to handle all of these disk intensive tasks, its performance suffers tremendously. With CopyIt/2, the BBS simply sends a message to the server telling it to copy all marked files. When enough of the files have been copied, the server will send a message back to the BBS that it is safe to start the download. ARCHIVE EXTRACTION: Users can extract any archive format ONLINE as long as the extraction utility exists on the server. Users can then view and download any internal files. GIF PREVIEWING: Users can view any number of GIF files at one time by compressing them into a single GIF. REAL-TIME FAXING: A fax module supplements CopyIt/2. The CI2FAX module allows CopyIt/2 to process fax requests from a BBS as well as providing several fax utilities. SHELLING: CopyIt/2 can suspend its execution in order to run another application. SPAWNING: Under OS/2, CopyIt/2 can spawn native OS/2 processes which OS/2 manages simultaneously while CopyIt/2 continues to execute. Several of CopyIt/2's features have been utilized in our other software products including RFS and FRS. Additionally, CopyIt/2's interface specification is available to anyone interested in developing software for it. Because CopyIt/2 is the successor to CopyIt!, it features a large installed base of developers. We hope the new interface and features will attract even more! The OS/2 version of CopyIt/2 'sleeps' while it is not processing requests. This frees your server for other tasks and opens up new doors for one or two line systems without a network. Although programs like TBBS and The Major BBS are not typically designed to run under OS/2, they should operate fairly well on such low line counts. PRS indexes file descriptions and allows searching via CopyIt/2. You can then mark files OFFLINE and call back to upload your request and download your queue! ╔═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗ ║ File Retrieval System (FRS) - Option Module for FTS PRO ║ ╚═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝ Many sysops have file listings for several CD-ROMS, but have a limited number of CD-ROM drives. Normally in FTSPRO, OFFLINE disks can be viewed, but users cannot mark files for download. With the File Retrieval System installed, however, the users can actually generate a request for OFFLINE files. The sysop can then execute FRS, which provides an advanced interface for marking OFFLINE requests. FRS will prompt for the disks needed to supply users with their requests. The requests and full descriptions will then be added to an ONLINE file directory for download. ╔═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗ ║ Statistical Reporting Function (SRF) - Option Module for FTS PRO ║ ╚═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝ To continue system growth, it is important for sysops to respond to usage trends. SRF generates detailed reports which can be viewed privately by the sysop or put ONLINE for display to users. It tabulates vital statistics and presents them in an easy to read format. SRF features reports on the number of downloads, uploads, files, extended descriptions, comments, invisible files, not listed files, unknown entry types, and much more! The reports are generated for each FTS PRO File Directory and File Area, plus the system overall. ╔═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗ ║ User Registration System (URS) Product Overview ║ ╚═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝ The User Registration System automates your BBS registration process, storing information for all users which can be easily viewed ONLINE. Up to eleven customizable data fields can be stored, and each can be made active or required at any time. URS: This program simply allows the user to enter and update his own information. After successfully completing all required fields, the user is upgraded based on a configurable privilege level and authorization flag. URS-VIEW: This program (called in a separate menu entry) allows the Sysop to quickly view each user's information. URS-VIEW displays the information used by URS as well as notes, priviledge, ANSI/IBM, password, authorization flags, total time, calls, uploads, and downloads. The Sysop can search for names that sound similar and jump to a specific record. URS-VIEW can print individual users as well as export all user information to a standard database file or to an ASCII text file. ╔═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗ ║ User Subscription System (USS) Product Overview ║ ╚═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝ This product can work in conjunction with User Registration System, although it is not required. USS allows users to donate or subscribe to your BBS system with a credit card. The sysop can also use USS to manage all types of subscriptions, including cash and check orders. The system maintains a database of these subscriptions. It also automatically manages expirations based on predefined subscription rates and will upgrade or reset the user using TBBS compatible userlog templates. USS is extremely versatile and can be used on a variety of systems; here are two examples: - You can install USS without defining rates to operate as a donation only system. - You can install USS, specifying an unlimited number of subscription rates. On this system users will automatically be upgraded and downgraded based on how much they donated and when. ╔═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗ ║ TBBS Commander (TCOMMAND) Product Overview ║ ╚═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝ TCOMMAND is a highly versatile program. Its uses range from an Interchange dialing directory to a private sysop control area. TCOMMAND provides a highly intuitive method for accessing the TBBS menu options. Essentially, the program allows a user to select from a picklist of TBBS menu entries. To sysops, a major advantage of using TCOMMAND is the ability to test TBBS menu items ONLINE, without constantly shutting down to recompile them from DOS. TCOMMAND has become a vital addition to our BBS. Give it a try; TCOMMAND is bound to make your life easier! ╔═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗ ║ TBBS Mail Area Selector (PROMAIL) Product Overview ║ ╚═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝ PROMAIL was created to help alleviate the problem of creating TBBS menu entries for the seemingly endless number of mail conferences users demand. The SysOp can organize his mail conferences into a hierarchical structure using the intuitive configuration utility. The ProMail interface then allows users to browse the mail areas, reading, scanning, and entering messages in various conferences. ProMail autodetects RIP callers and provides a point and click RIP interface. ╔═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗ ║ ASCII/ANSI/RIP File Viewer (PROVIEW) Product Overview ║ ╚═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝ PROVIEW provides an advanced interface for ONLINE text databases. The viewer allows users to browse text files, scrolling both backward and forward. PROVIEW supports compound searching throughout text files. Users can choose to download the file at any time. As well as displaying a single file, PROVIEW can manage groups of text files. The sysop can set up a directory of related files, and from a single PROVIEW menu entry, a user may pick from the list of files and may search all files simultaneously. PROVIEW boasts a remarkable RIP interface, and will auto-detect RIP capable users. ╔═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗ ║ Random File Display (RANDFILE) Product Overview ║ ╚═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝ This TDBS application displays a random ASCII/ANSI/RIP file ONLINE to your callers. The random file is chosen from a standard directory mask.
